Volunteers needed for this years Picnic!

We need your help before and during the Fiddler's Picnic. Volunteer to take tickets, work the table, hang posters, help with the mailing, etc. Contact:

Iowa City fiddler Al Murphy met Otis McKray In the early 1960s. Al describes the meeting on the Iowa Arts Council Iowa Roots website. Al remembers playing a gig with Otis in Solon, IA in 1961. At the time Al was 16 and Otis 82.

FREE Instrument Workshops (Tenative) from 2:00–3:00 at the 2009 Fiddler's Picnic
Fiddle, Beginning -- with TBA Fiddle, Old-time Crosstuning -- with TBA Banjo -- with TBA Mandolin -- with TBA Guitar -- with TBA Fiddler's Picnic instrument workshops provide a rare opportunity for beginning and intermediate players to experience hands-on instruction in folk style from some of the area's finest musicians. Many teachers give lessons year round. Instruction level will be determined by attendees. There will be both beginning and intermediate fiddle workshops. Bring your instruments and look for the signs for the location of each workshop. Note: Workshops and instructors are subject to change depending on availability of volunteers.
