The
Fiddler’s Picnic has
been an annual event in Iowa City for over 35 years. The festival
has been video taped and photographed by both enthusiastic amateurs
and professionals for the entire time of its existence. The Board
of the IFOTM is dedicated to preserving in a formal archival such
memorabilia as can be collected by the group and making these materials
available to musicians, historians, and the general public. Donations
of actual photographs or scanned images, video tapes, audio tapes,
etc. are being solicited by IFOTM to form the archive. If you have
images taken at the picnic or have images or recordings of eastern
Iowa folk musicians, please consider donating them to the archive.
You can donate them outright or allow us to borrow them long enough
to scan them for inclusion in the digital portion of the archive.
Materials will be returned promptly. Photographs of relatives who
played fiddle or banjo, even if they did not attend IFOTM events,
as well as old audio and video field recordings are considered especially
valuable to the archive.
